Susan M. Knell
Susan M. Knell, holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (Case Western Reserve University) and an MA in Developmental Psychology ( Ohio State University). She is the author of the book, “Cognitive-Behavioral Play Therapy” (Jason Aronson, 1993), which is used internationally and was published in Italian in 1998.
She was the first to study and write about the application of cognitive-behavioral therapy in young children. In addition to her book, she has published many chapters in edited books on play therapy, including a recent chapter on the treatment of young children with anxiety disorders. She has lectured throughout the United States on Cognitive-Behavioral Play Therapy with preschool and early school-age children.
As a clinical psychologist, she has provided assessment and therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and adults for over 25 years. In addition to her clinical practice, she has extensive experience in research and in the training and development of other mental health professionals.
She is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve, where she supervises and teaches graduate students in the Department of Psychological Sciences.
